As part of its commitment to improving the economic conditions of orphan families, the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO), in collaboration with Zamzam Foundation, launched an income-generating project in the Banadir region of Somalia under the "Good Earning 2" initiative. This project aims to empower ten orphan families by establishing microprojects.

The project works to provide sustainable job opportunities for orphan families through ten small businesses that meet various local market needs, including clothing stores, grocery stores, a shop for household items, a vegetable shop, and a pharmacy. The goal is to improve the living standards of this most vulnerable group.

Furthermore, the executive report indicates that the selection of beneficiary families from orphan families was based on strict criteria to ensure the success and sustainability of the project. These families were trained on how to manage their projects, with continuous supervision provided before, during, and after implementation to ensure the desired outcomes.

This project is a significant step towards improving the lives of 70 individuals from orphan families, offering them real economic opportunities and enhancing their financial independence. It also empowers mothers to provide a sustainable income, which enables them to raise their children in a stable environment.

In addition to improving the quality of life for the targeted families in terms of livelihood, health, and education, the project helps address unemployment and poverty issues in Somalia. This initiative provides a valuable opportunity for orphans over the age of eighteen to enter the labor market and establish their future businesses.

Moreover, the project also enables mothers to provide a sustainable income, alleviating the financial burden on families and offering ongoing financial support after the sponsorship period of the orphans ends to ensure the sustainability of the businesses.

Furthermore, the project emphasizes that funding a small project can transform the lives of poor families, turning them from beneficiaries into producers. The success of small projects requires continuous financial support to ensure their sustainability and achieve long-term results.

This project is part of the humanitarian efforts made by the IICO to support vulnerable groups, especially orphaned children. The Zamzam Foundation implemented this project under its direct supervision, providing training to the beneficiary families and offering technical and supervisory support to ensure the success of the projects and the achievement of their objectives.

The "Productive Orphan Families" project represents an outstanding model for income-generating small projects that can make a real difference in the lives of the most vulnerable groups by providing employment opportunities, financial independence, and increasing the targeted families' ability to overcome poverty challenges.

Moreover, productive Projects have proven to be an effective solution to tackle unemployment in Somalia, making them a model to be followed in other regions that need similar initiatives.

It is worth noting that Somalia has been experiencing a difficult humanitarian situation for decades due to a combination of political, economic, and security crises, which have significantly impacted the lives of the population across the country.
