In a new step towards strengthening community partnerships and achieving common humanitarian goals, the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) signed a cooperation agreement with the Public Authority for Minors Affairs. This agreement aims to enhance humanitarian and developmental efforts in serving people with disabilities and special groups, providing integrated services to improve their quality of life in educational, psychological, and social fields.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the IICO by its Director General, Eng. BADER AL-SUMAIT, at the headquarters of the Minors Affairs Authority, where the Acting Director General of the Minors Affairs Authority, Eng. DALAL MAHMOUD AL-NOURI, signed on behalf of the Minors Affairs Authority, in the presence of a number of officials from both sides.
Promoting the appropriate environment
AL-SUMAIT confirmed that the agreement represents a serious step towards achieving the common goals of improving the social and psychological well-being of the most vulnerable groups, and providing an appropriate environment to enhance their ability to integrate effectively into society. He pointed out that the IICO seeks, through these programs, to enhance community building, strengthen the fabric of society and consolidate its ties, through its keenness to adopt such initiatives that aim to care for the community groups deserving of support, since this contributes to building a safety net for all groups.
Furthermore, he thanked and appreciated the Minors Affairs Authority - leadership and employees - for their continuous and fruitful cooperation, expressing his hope that this partnership will contribute to providing the best services to the people of Kuwaiti society.
The Purpose of the Agreement
The agreement aims to provide high-quality rehabilitation programs to support 600 beneficiaries including orphans, people with special needs, the elderly, recovering addicts, and those released from correctional institutions, through the implementation and supervision of the Human Building Voluntary Initiative, which operates under the umbrella of the IICO.
The agreement also includes a strategic partnership that contributes to improving the daily living conditions of the target groups, including health care and social support programs.
Joint Projects
In the context of integrating efforts to implement a number of distinguished humanitarian projects, the IICO implemented a number of projects in cooperation with the Minors Affairs Authority. The most prominent of these projects is the construction of a school in the city of Rudki in Tajikistan to serve 560 male and female students, in addition to the construction of a medical center that serves about 20,000 visitors, along with the drilling of an artesian well to provide potable water for the residents of the region, in order to improve living conditions in areas with basic needs.
Moreover, the Public Authority for Minors Affairs also contributed KWD 246,000 to support the Palliative Care Center in the Al Sabah Medical District. It is the first center of its kind in the region, and was implemented in partnership with the Kuwait Society for Combating Smoking and Cancer, and the Ministry of Health, with the aim of providing psychological, social and therapeutic palliative services to the elderly with chronic diseases, at a total cost of KWD 5,313,785.
Common Strategic Vision
These humanitarian projects and initiatives are based on a common strategic vision aimed at empowering people, improving their quality of life, providing educational opportunities and health care to the most vulnerable and needy groups in various regions, by providing sustainable support to those segments most in need, and enhancing the empowerment of society in general.
The Journey of Cooperation
The signing of this agreement is a continuation of a long process of constructive cooperation between the International Islamic Charity Organization and the Public Authority for Minors Affairs. As this agreement contributes to providing psychological and social support to the target groups through specialized rehabilitation programs, aiming to achieve sustainable development, enhance social welfare, and work to effectively integrate people with disabilities and special groups into society, in a way that enhances their chances of life and human dignity.
Human Building Initiative
The Human Building Initiative specializes in caring for people with special needs and supporting the mental health of special groups through professional programs to integrate and rehabilitate people with mild and moderate mental disabilities and learning difficulties, in many specialties with specific training, and the initiative operates under the umbrella of the IICO.
The IICO also has a major role in supporting the activities of the Public Authority for Disabled Affairs, in cooperation with its volunteer team, “The Will for People with Disabilities,” and with the support of the General Secretariat of Endowments.

The International Islamic Charity Organization attaches great importance to humanitarian initiatives and quality projects, as they provide opportunities to empower people, work on their stability, and create a decent life that leads to their advancement and development, and achieves a sense of security and reassurance. It is also keen to cooperate and partner with many parties, believing that cooperation between institutions is the most effective way to achieve the desired goals and bring about sustainable change that positively reflects on society.
Participation in National Celebrations
On the sidelines of signing the agreement, the IICO’s delegation, headed by the Director General, Eng. Bader Al-Sumait, and including his Deputy for Corporate Communications, Ibrahim Al-Badr, Marketing and Media Director, Khaled Al-Shuaib, and Social Programs Director, Ali Saud, participated in the activities of the Public Authority for Minors Affairs on the occasion of the National Days of the State of Kuwait, which were attended by the leaders of the Public Authority for Minors Affairs, members of its Board of Directors, some minor children and their mothers.
