As part of its humanitarian interventions to empower orphan families in Yemen, the International Islamic Charity Organization (IICO) has implemented a new phase of the "Good Earnings" project, which has resulted in enhancing sustainable livelihoods for 59 orphan families across various Yemeni regions, in cooperation with the Humanitarian Access Association.

The project, which falls within the framework of the IICO's Productive Families Fund for Orphans, aims to provide support to families experiencing difficult economic circumstances by financing micro-projects to generate a steady income, achieve self-sufficiency, and reduce poverty and unemployment rates.

Furthermore, the list of projects implemented under the "Good Earnings 4" program included 59 small projects in various fields needed by poor families and orphans in Yemen. These projects varied across multiple sectors, including agricultural projects such as sheep and goat breeding, beehives, productive projects such as ma'awaz weaving workshops and barbershops, commercial projects such as snack and juice shops, and small grocery stores, as well as service projects such as mobile phone maintenance, beauty and hairdressing projects.

These projects were distributed across six Yemeni governorates: Taiz, Hadramaut, Lahj, Ma'rib, Sana'a, and Shabwa. Beneficiary families were selected based on need criteria and a set of controls to ensure the success of these projects.

Program results and social impact

Through these projects, the IICO was able to economically empower 59 orphan families by providing them with a steady source of income, significantly improving their living conditions. Additionally, the program included training 36 beneficiaries in project management and development skills, helping them enter the job market and gain the expertise to sustain their projects in the future.

Moreover, the most prominent outcomes of these projects include securing a steady income for orphans and their families, improving the standard of living of beneficiary families, enhancing families' ability to integrate into the local labor market, and providing sustainable solutions to the problems of poverty and unemployment in affected communities.

To ensure the long-term continuity and success of the projects, the charity's partner has taken a number of measures to ensure sustainability, including carefully selecting beneficiaries according to established criteria, signing contracts that guarantee full commitment from beneficiaries, conducting periodic evaluations of the projects to ensure their continued success, and providing the necessary support in marketing the products offered by families benefiting from the projects.

Furthermore, the "Good Earnings 4" program is an important step toward achieving sustainable development in Yemen, offering practical and realistic solutions to address the problems of poverty and unemployment faced by orphans and their families. Through this program, the IICO affirms its ongoing commitment to achieving social and economic development in poor communities, thereby enhancing hope for a better future for these families.

The "Productive Families for Orphans" program is one of the strategic projects implemented by the IICO. The program aims to provide stable sources of income for poor families and orphans over the age of 18 whose sponsorship has ended, through the implementation of small income-generating projects.

The program seeks to achieve several development goals, most notably: improving the standard of living of poor families and orphans, empowering families to become self-reliant and self-sufficient, providing new job opportunities, increasing professional competence, and enhancing families' participation in the local labor market.

Yemen's economic and social crises have been exacerbated by wars and political events, and unemployment and poverty have become among the most prominent challenges facing youth and poor families, particularly orphans. Therefore, the charity seeks, through economic empowerment projects, to improve the living conditions of poor families and achieve self-sufficiency, thus contributing to the social and economic stability of these groups.

It is worth noting that the IICO's support for these projects stems from its strategic vision of "economically empowering those in need" and working to promote sustainable development in poor and needy communities across the Islamic world.

In line with its noble humanitarian mission, the IICO focuses on achieving a positive impact in empowering people in poor communities, with economic projects being among its most important tools for helping these communities overcome economic crises.
