"With My Profession I can prosper"… A training project for 200 young men and women in Lebanon

Within the framework of its interest in the qualification and training of young people, the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), in cooperation with Al-Rahma Center for Community Service in Sidon, Southern Lebanon, has implemented a vocational training project, "With My Profession I can prosper", which includes eight qualification courses, over a period of 6 months. The number of young people who benefitted from the courses reached 200 young men and women from orphans and university students from the children of Syrian refugees, marginalized and poor Lebanese, aged 16-40 years.

For his part, the Head of Development Projects Programs at the IICO, Mohamed Ramadan delivered a motivational speech to the trainees via the Internet on the importance of vocational training, opening the way to secure job opportunities for trainees in the community and commercial organizations, and the IICO’s vision to support projects to qualify youth for the labor market.

Furthermore, the courses contributed to providing young men and girls with the craft and technical skills that qualify them, in order to get opportunities in the labor market. As well as to obtain job opportunities that improve their living conditions and help them to secure their life needs, under the high prices and the difficult economic conditions that Lebanon is experiencing in recent times.

At the end of the project's courses, the participants received professional certificates in many professional disciplines, including marketing, advertising design, accounting and secretarial work, geometric drawing, skin care, and women’s beauty centers.

The project also gave graduates at the end of the courses some of the basic tools they need for their new craft.

Al-Rahma Center for Community Service in Sidon seeks to communicate with civil society institutions to help graduates obtain job opportunities that fit their qualifications, or to employ some of them in the center if vacancies become available for them.

These courses come within the framework of the IICO’s strategy to support sustainable development in poor countries, by providing educational training and specialized professional qualification opportunities for children of poor people, to enhance their capabilities, refine their skills. As well as to provide them with a profession that qualifies them to rely on themselves, meet their living needs, and contribute to the development of their societies.
